Drought/ Flood

Drought/ Flood, Fine Art
Drought/ Flood
I created these boats with a framework of branches and leaves from my garden and my neighbourhood to reflect the impact of our recent Vancouver Island drought experience, which was followed by extreme rain and flood conditions. My intent was to explore the effects of climate change in our own backyards. Five of the boats are covered with felted fleece as an acknowledgement of the impact on animals, and one boat is constructed of medical plaster gauze and beeswax in an attempt to suggest the need for healing and honouring our environment.
