Nature never ceases to amaze me. On my daily walks with my little Cairn terrier, I capture textures, lines, form and colour with my camera. This series is an interpretation of what I saw on a particular black poplar tree in my neighborhood. The markings were of great interest to me. Some seemed like staccato notes on a musical score while others seemed like pathways and lines reminiscent of a map of the Rocky Mountains where I am from. In these pieces I make use of collage elements, colour and lots of mark making in the mixed media process. I absolutely love the process and tend to be quite intuitive in my approach to creating art.
